NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION & DYSLEXIA AWARENESS MONTH
zpizza is proud to join local schools and parents during the month of October in support of National Bullying Prevention Month and Dyslexia Awareness Month. Our desire is to support our local communities in preventing bullying and encouraging inclusivity between students via our Special zSlice program (contact your local zpizza location if you'd like your elementary school to participate).
Additionally, zpizza and local author, Gea Meijering, who wrote the book "Hacking the Code: The Ziggety Zaggety Road of a D-Kid", have joined together to highlight awareness around dyslexia. The book's main theme is that every brain works differently and we all have different strengths. The book creates a better understanding for inclusivity in general and dyslexics specifically. It's a tale of friendship, focusing on what you are good at, and one that promotes insight and compassion for others. Zpizza is featured in the book and the main character, Kees, receives an award (p.159) just like the students do with our Special zSlice school program!
In the book, Kees, celebrates all of the things that he is "good at" with his grandpa. He is the inspiration for our #iamgoodat social media contest happening during the month of October 2021. We hope you follow the hashtag and join us to celebrate all of the amazing kids in our communities!
